🔒 Message me privately

How it works
  1. Your browser locks the message with my public key before it leaves your computer (PGP encryption).
  2. The server only stores the locked version. I get a note that something arrived, never what it says.
  3. I unlock it on my own computer with my private key, which never goes online.

Research Elements

Darmstadtium

Ds · atomic number 110

Transition metal · period 7, group 10

Electrons

Ds

[Rn] 5f14 6d8 7s2

Shells: 2, 8, 18, 32, 32, 16, 2

Valence electrons: 2 in the outer shell (7s2), and 8 in 6d8

  • Outer s and p
  • d and f
  • Core

Predicted by calculation; not yet measured. Green dots are the outer shell's s and p electrons. Softer green dots are the d electrons of transition metals, and the d and f electrons of lanthanides and actinides: they often take part in bonding, but not always. Grey dots are the core. Configuration from relativistic calculations; NIST lists ground states up to element 108.

Natural isotopes

No natural isotope with a defined abundance in NIST's Atomic Weights and Isotopic Compositions.
